Several disciplines to read a single body.

Daniel Bontems, osteopath D.O., connects what the specialties examine separately: he reads your scans and test results, traces the chain back to the source of the pain and explains what is happening.

Musculoskeletal pain, chronic pelvic pain, breathing and ENT, elite sport. In Neuilly-sur-Seine and Aix-en-Provence.

Where to start?

Four situations bring most patients to the practice. Choose the one that sounds like you.

  • I have back or neck pain.

Low back pain, herniated disc, sciatica, neck pain, tingling in the arm, headaches: the most common reasons for consulting at the practice.

    « Cela faisait 1 mois que j'enchaînais lombalgies, sciatiques et douleurs cervicales… » Z. A.

  • Nothing has worked so far.

Persistent pain, years of searching without an answer: the case is taken up again from the start, cross-checking several perspectives.

  • I'm looking for a sports osteopath.

From amateur runners to national teams: sports injuries, preparation, recovery and breathing optimisation.

« Un suivi depuis de longues années. Daniel est un super professionnel qui aborde plusieurs axes. » É. D.

  • My breathing, or my child's.

Shortness of breath, mouth breathing, snoring, recurrent ENT problems, recovery: from infants to older adults.

The painful area is not always the cause.

Osteopathy, imaging interpretation, pain neuroscience, breathing, micronutrition and expertise in mitochondrial health, Chinese medicine: several lenses for tracing back to what keeps the pain going, always starting with the structure. This is the Bontems Method.

From what keeps the pain going to what you feel.

The Bontems Method

A chain he has been studying for years

Still little described in the literature, it is part of his assessment.

  1. Jawocclusion, bruxism, tongue position
  2. Breathingdiaphragm, breathing pattern, rib cage
  3. Perineumpelvic floor, pelvis
  4. Kneelower-limb alignment, weight-bearing
  5. Footarches, ground contact

The chain can be read in both directions: a strain can travel down from the jaw to the foot, or up from the foot to the jaw.

Where does Daniel Bontems practise?

In two practices: at 8 Avenue Sainte-Foy in Neuilly-sur-Seine (92200) on Mondays, Tuesdays and every other Wednesday; and at Cabinet Grand Angle, 4 Place Barthélémy Niollon in Aix-en-Provence (13100) every other Wednesday, on Thursdays and on Fridays. Each practice has its own online booking calendar.

Does Daniel Bontems work with doctors?

Yes, it is at the heart of his practice. He is the designated osteopath of the Réseau Douleur Paris, a network of 47 members (doctors, surgeons and allied health professionals), and works with the doctors and surgeons of the Drouot clinics (Laffitte, Molitor, Nation). Many patients are referred to him by their doctor.

After the consultation, he can send a written report explaining his reading and his choice of approach, and he refers patients to a specialist whenever the situation requires it.

Do you need a prescription to see an osteopath?

No. In France, osteopathy is directly accessible: no prescription is required. Some situations do, however, warrant prior medical advice, and the osteopath refers you to a doctor when the reason for consulting requires it.

Is osteopathy reimbursed?

Sessions are not covered by the French national health insurance (Assurance maladie). Most French top-up health insurers (mutuelles) offer an annual allowance covering some or all sessions. An invoice is provided after each consultation.

How many sessions should you expect?

It depends on the reason for consulting. For a recent, isolated complaint, one or two sessions are often enough. For chronic pain, care is built over time, with the patient and in liaison with the professionals who follow them.

What happens at a first consultation?

It begins with a reading of your test results, if you have any, followed by an in-depth discussion: medical history, lifestyle, reason for consulting. Then come the clinical examination and the manual work. Personalised advice is given at the end. Fees are listed on each practice's page.

He also trains practitioners.
